This photo, taken on the 18th July 1979, shows an unidentified Class 47 locomotive head a grain train for Dufftown past Aberdeen North Signal Box. Behind the signal box can be seen the vacant formation of the track which once led to Platforms 10-13, the North Bay Platforms. There were also a number of carriage sidings situated adjacent to the platforms, which were lifted in the early 1970s after the closure of the remaining Great North of Scotland Railway routes.
