This April 1978 view shows Class 40 Locomotive 40166, an unidentified Class 26 locomotive, a rake of BR Mark One coaches and a new High Speed Train at the southern end of Aberdeen Station. The platform on the far right of the picture is Platform 2/1, during the 1980s this platform was disconnected from the passenger section of the station and used for goods loading, however with the imminent closure of Aberdeen Guild Street Goods Yard for redevelopment it is very likely that the platform will be converted to passenger use once again (Indeed a company has recently been awarded a contract to overhaul two platforms).
