Gallery 6 : Formartine & Buchan Railway 1978

The photographs on this page were kindly donated by and are copyright © Mike Cooper. Most were taken during a 1978 railtour by a Class 121 "Bubblecar" DMU. By this time the branch was single-track from Dyce Junction to Fraserburgh. The entire Maud Junction - Peterhead section was closed in 1970 and was lifted long before this tour took place. At the time these photographs were taken Dyce Junction was still closed to passengers, it was reopened by Scotrail in 1984 as a two-platform station after the Buchan line had been closed and lifted
