This rare colour photograph shows a Class 27 (Sulzer Type 2) locomotive preparing to depart Fraserburgh Station in the early 1960s with a passenger train for Aberdeen. In the darkness, under the canopies of the St Coombs branch platform can be seen the feint outlines of one of the notorious North British Type 2 locomotives, which were regularly present at Inverurie Locomotive Works for repairs!
