Gallery 7 : Aberdeen Ferryhill MPD

A rare visit is pictured here of a Class 50 diesel locomotive to Ferryhill Depot. They were nicknamed "Hoovers" by enthusiasts on the account of their unusual sound. Here the former D424 (TOPS Number 50024) is pictured next to Class 40 No. 40167 (the former D367) at the fuelling point,.

Class 50s were more associated with the Western Region of British Railways. Unfortunately history was not kind to 50024, as it was cut up at Old Oak Common in September 1991.
