Gallery 7 : Aberdeen Ferryhill MPD

This photographs isn't really of Ferryhill MPD, except that you can see the original two-road locomotive shed in the background of the Class 47 hauled cement train.

Look carefully at the line of telegraph poles on the right. Notice how they curve away from the mainline? This photograph also shows the location of Ferryhill Junction, where the Deeside Railway joined the mainline - the tracks of the Deeside Railway (closed in 1966 and lifted in 1972) would have been where the wooden shed is. Interestingly Ferryhill Junction Signal Box survived until 1981, and the location is still known by Network Rail as Ferryhill Junction (there's even a board at trackside stating such!) even though the junction was lifted in 1972.
