In 1987 a Railfreight exhibition track visited Aberdeen's Platform 2, demonstrating the new company image and the new rolling stock. Platforms 1 & 2 had been disconnected from the passenger station in the early 1980s and were used for parcels operations from that date. With the imminent closure of Aberdeen Guild Street Goods Yard it is expected that Platforms 1 & 2 will be re-connected to the passenger station.
