LNER A4 Pacific No 60024 Kingfisher is seen at Aberdeen Ferryhill MPD during July/August 1965, during the period when the "3 hour express" trains from Glasgow were worked by the former top-link locos. Kingfisher was not one of the A4s saved for preservation, but its name lives on as the name of a book publishing company. Note the hatch in the streamlining on the front, which is open to allow access to the smokebox of the locomotive.
