LNER A4 Pacific No 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley is seen entering Aberdeen Ferryhill Shed during July/August 1965. Some of the glass lights on the shed roof can be seen to be broken and missing, this may be indicative of the poor condition of the shed structure at the time. A couple of years after this picture the structure over the northern section of the shed was dismantled and left as open sidings, with only the remainder of the shed surviving in use until 1987.
Aberdeen Ferryhill Shed was finally demolished in 1993 although other buildings on the site, including the earlier shed built by the Caledonian Railway in the 1860s, still survive. For more information on Ferryhill MPD,
