This photo of a (rather smokey!) Diesel Multiple Unit leaving for the North in mid-1975 shows the vast derelict trackbed north of Aberdeen Joint Station. The formation on the right of the track formerly led to the North Bay Platforms, whilst on the left of the track there were carriage holding sidings as well as a turntable. Behind the camera would be Aberdeen North Signal Box.
This scene is now drastically different, with the railway reduced to a single track and much of the space seen here now used by the Denburn Dual Carriageway.
