Cambus O' May was surely one of the most picturesque stations on the line, squeezed onto the hillside between the River Dee and the main road, the narrow single-platform station was frequently visited by tourists. A single goods siding to the north of the station was provided for goods traffic and to the west of the station the railway was crossed by the Cambus O' May suspension bridge, built in 1905.
Since closure of the railway the Cambus O' May area has become increasingly popular with tourists. The trackbed of the railway from Dinnet to Ballater is now a public walk, and still offers superb views of the countryside. The small station building is now used as a private residence whilst the suspension bridge deteriorated after closure of the railway and was rebuilt in 1988, similar in appearance but no longer crossing the trackbed of the railway.
