Opened in 1853, Drum Station served a scattered community but was very popular with tourists who came to visit nearby attractions
such as Drum Castle. However, with the advent of automobiles Drum lost most of its passenger traffic, with an income of £17 recorded
in 1938 for a total of 400 tickets (for the entire year). It is therefore unsurprising that Drum Station was closed by
British Rail in 1951, being only the second station on Deeside to be closed without being replaced (Mills of Drum Station west of
Park Station closing in 1863).
Today both platforms at Drum Station can be found, however the station building has been demolished. A house nearby may be
the Stationmaster's house. The platform shelter has been turned 180 degrees to face away from the former platform.
