Opened by the Great North of Scotland Railway in 1894 for the introduction of the suburban services to Culter, Pitfodels station served a luxurious suburb of Aberdeen. Closed in 1937 with the withrdrawal of the suburban services, the typical GNSR "Wooden" Station building suvives in excellent condition. The platform edges survive but are in poor condition.
