Opened in 1866, Abernethy (later renamed Nethy Bridge) was the terminus of the Strathspey Railway until 1st August 1866, when the line was extended south of Nethy Bridge crossing the river Spey and meeting the Highland Railway at Boat of Garten. The station remained open until 1965 and continued to see goods traffic until 4 November 1968.
Today the station building and single platform survive intact, with the building converted as a holiday hostel. The remains of an ex-GNSR station sign can be seen on the platform
