Timeline of Avonlea & District Museum - Heritage House

1980 Originally opened on June 28 in the old school in Avonlea as a part of the "Celebrate Saskatchewan" celebration.
  When the school was to be demolished, artifacts were moved into the old pool hall on the north east corner of Main St. and 1st Ave.
1981 A museum committee was formed and correspondence made with the CN to purchase the old train station building for $105 and lease the land it was on to the year 2000. An agreement was make and a Sales Award was signed as of January 16, to the Village of Avonlea.
1982

Avonlea & District Museum - Heritage House was incorporated as a non-profit organization on May 31.

A Municipal Heritage Grant of $5593 was awarded to be used in restoration of the building.

1989 In June, CN donated a retired combination Work & Bunk Car.
1995 On June 5th, the museum purchased 0.63 acres on the north side of the train station.
1996 On Oct. 30th, a 100' X 50' metal/pole building was constructed on the recently purchased 0.63 acres, and is to be used for displays.
1998 In June, the Truax Anglican Church was moved in to add to the displays.
