Taken from #neogeo on EFNET :
<NaMcO> deReth, shut the fuck up
<NaMcO> we're kinda sick of useless sites
=NeoN=
served it's purpose a long time ago. Now, the idea of split ROMs
is everywhere. Who doesn't offer Neo Geo ROMs in split options
nowadays? We had Quang's Potato Chips at Datapotato. Then, there's Dereth's
Split ROMs at =NeoN=. The term "Split ROMs"
kinda got caught on with the crowd. I like that. That's probably
the only thing I've ever came up with and was remembered.
My original purpose is to give
slow connection users a chance to get the ROMs they want and
split ROMs was to end the goddamn bad CRC problems in zip files.
It does seems useless indeed to continue with such a site,
seeing more and more users jumping onto the broadband wagon.
There's a good chance someone's on a T1, Cable or ADSL line.
(I'm still on 28.8k dialup)
NaMcO's words are harsh but
he's probably right. No one ever misses or need another ROM
site. So why am I back? Simple, out of interest. I love what I
reap from emulation. I never had the money to squander on game
consoles and arcades. GAME OVER is quick for me. I'd be still
playing Marvel vs SF now if not for the progress in Neo Geo
emulation. Since then, I've contributed a big part of my pocket
money on KOF98 machines... Money that'll be spent elsewhere if
not for the practice in NeoRageX.
I'm not talented or even
skilled in anything. My life is shit. I can't program. I'm due
for a C++ supplementary paper next week. (Pray for me). I can't
write emulators like Sardu or keep up a great news site like
Atila. I just wanna do something I'm interested in keeping up.
Anything wrong with that? Perhaps you think it's gay. Heh.
"...useless sites.".
Hmm... NaMcO's words hit home. Such small comments really make
my heart sink. But as I said... it's probably true. =NeoN= is
redundant. I'm just keeping it cos it's something I own and
something I like.
