Chicago, USA | I do an "Art for Fun" group in a PSR program. My clients often have difficulty in socializing. Origami helps to bring them out for their shells. I get to see them sharing supplies and helping one another. I sense the feeling of accomplishment when they exclaim, "......You mean just like that? ......Then I did it right!"

Hot Springs Arkansas | I am self-taught in Origami. I love making and creating things, flowers, animals and other things with my artwork. I will be introducing Origami to Children and Adults during exhibitions at Libraries in Hot Springs Arkansas and in Shreveport La.
My hands and paper become one with whatever I make. I just showed someone how to make a butterfly and a flapping bird. I love Origami and expect to make a lot more interesting things maybe some of my own one day. Maxine

Denver | I am 45 and retired for the second time. I spend 3 times a week in a
dialysis chair, for 5 hours a day. I need to keep my mind busy while I am there.
A person can only do so much reading. Just happened to bump into your site. I
could use some unstructured mental health therapy. I have seen therapists in
the past. All my marbles are intact. I just need a little bit of polishing.

USA | I have also noticed the calming effect of origami!
... I was very happy to find your website. I studied origami for two
years in Japan with Takuji Sugimura.
I now teach English as a second language and sometimes do origami with my classes as a way to practice words like triangle, top, sides, fold, etc. Some of my classes are for older adults and they are surprised and pleased when we start to fold. Small books are very popular. I sometimes give origami classes for kids and at
least once we make something with very big paper. The kids are thrilled
when they head home with two foot long whales tucked under their arms.

| Alexandra Ranieri Child Therapist |
Cherry Hill, NJ USA | What a wonderful web page!! I knew there had to be one like this
out there! I am so glad I found it!
I currently use origami during group therapy for children & adolescents. I have seen it help them to better relate to one another, and be more civil to one another. I have watched them experience the joy of creativity and of making something with their hands that others appreciate. It is very rewarding. I have completely decorated Christmas trees with origami made by patients on inpatient units because it was the only thing safe enough to put on the tree! I have also used it in individual therapy to encourage my patients' sense of
self-esteem. I find origami to be a creative and calming outlet for myself
as well as for my patients.

Seattle, WA USA | What a neat site! I am an enthusiastic paperfolder. I use origami for a number of personal things, and some of them are therapeutic.
It's also a great thing to do with children. I've noticed that people almost NEVER get rid of a well-made piece of origami, if they receive it as a gift. Hmmm.
