IN SEARCH OF - CHATTANOOGAS BIGGEST NAME TAGS....

by Roger C. Haynes

We all have our special photos we want taken at any National Convention. Marcus Crotts is no different, and while it may appear in these above photos he was hunting the largest name tags, well, as P.H. would say, let me tell you the rest of the story

Marcus is the gentleman in the plaid shirt. A veteran collector himself, he is a regular at Carolina meets and travels extensively in his business with wife Margo. At this meet he had good enough reason to be photographed with these two men.

On the left he is seen with one of the newest members of ALPCA, a veteran collector himself, young Matt Fawcett joined ALPCA at Chattanooga after attending many of these meetings with his father, Richard. Then he "Stunned" the Carolina Collectors in attendance by winning best in his class, "Junior Display" at the 45th annual convention with a display of Canadian and Australian Motorcycle plates.

Good show Matt.

Matt first turned up at the '85 ALPCA National at the ripe old age of 4 months. I think it rubbed off on him... We Carolina Collectors Congratulate you!!!

The photo above is ALPCA's Work-a-holic Convention Planning Chairman, Don Merrill of New York. When the club took over running the show from regional and state hosts, Don took the challenge of bigger and better shows for ALPCA. He has done more than an excellent job. This years convention again set a record. All of that will be explained in Mike Doffs article in the September TNS, meanwhile, Thanks Don, Good Show ole'boy, Good Show!!!
