The Ole Photo Album...The photos shown are part of the vast TNS Archives of event and memorable photos. Some made TNS, some didn't. The captions will explain why you should consider bringing your camera and joining us at some of these shows!
Pikes Peak Colorado '93 Ah yes, I remember it well, this was the scene on the road going to the top of Pikes Peak on a warm June day, up above the tree line, up and up, not for the faint of heart, "No Guard Rails!" But if you can take a little lean oxygen, have a good car and want to see one of the greatest sights in the world, make the trip. There's a cog rail for sissy's, I mean those who just don't want to drive. We'll be in Denver in July for the ALPCA National, Pikes Peak is just down the road about an hour, another 30 minutes or so to drive slowly to the top,,, wow...
Maggie Valley '94 This is Fred Perdues' beautiful 57 Chevy Convertible, that was restored from a beautiful one owner car to a machine that never fails to bring home the gold, trophies and what have you. It is gorgeous! It's shown parked on the show field at Beautiful Maggie Valley where TNS has been a regular for years now. I'll be there again this summer, 4th of July Weekend with dozens of our ALPCA/TNS friends. Stay tuned for their ads, they are great folks and Maggie Valley NC is simply beautiful. There are always great Tennessee tags here too, join us!
Charlotte Auto Fair; Late 80's
Long before it became the Lowes Motor Speedway, this was the scene 24 hours before all h--- broke loose at the track, as the Hornets Nest Chapter of the AACA set up the entire 100+ acre infield for the Auto Fair. A helpful Speedway official let me drive inside with Brownie, the TNS ride before Big Hoss, where it was parked at various spots around the track to give you perspective as to just how high these banks at the track are. The X in the second photo shows where Brownie was parked for the first shot, the track is 1½ miles in length, the infield, and now a large area outside "fills" with vendors!!! Do they have plates? Ask Ted Cline who once scored a 1932 NC Governors tag here. There are always finds, come and make yours in April, see ad page two of this issue. A Month later the NASCAR Stars will show you the short way around this track! Call Hornets Nest Chapter (Ad on Page two as I said) for show info; Call 704-455-3200 for race tickets, and more information about racing programs. (New 3/8ths Outlaws track under construction!!!)
Gold? This is something to be on the look-out for. The plates on the left are real, gems if you are lucky enough to find one. The ones on the right are fake, be careful, ALPCA Officials are at the ready to help you identify fakes. Do not buy fakes, preserve our hobby! |
