Reaching to the Heavens

Seemingly trapped, with Pharaoh's army to one side and the sea at the other, God parts the waters. In The Prince of Egypt, the sea does not merely separate, but appears to explode upward, almost reaching the heavens. [1:26; one hour and twenty-six minutes into the film].

A similar image is found in The Legends of the Jews. There, Louis Ginzberg refers to Targum Yerushalmi (Exod. 14.22), when he relates that "The waters were piled up to the height of sixteen hundred miles and they could be seen by all the nations of the earth."
