The co-mingling of the elements of nature

| IV. The Sign Beyond All Signs: Like RNA chains spreading out across
the whole of creation, the strands of the five elements (space, air,
water, fire, and earth) encompass the universe with consciousness and
life; the fiery spindle at the heart of matter combines centrifugal and
centripetal forces whose tension gives rise to meaning and direction. The
Buddhist tantras teach: "The thunderbolt cuts through hatred; the great
symbol blazes bright. A drop appears in the midst of space; it appears as
the door of life, and should be meditated upon in the center of the
heart." The seed syllables, borrowed from India and Tibet,
are: E(space) Yam(air) Bam(water) Ram(fire) Lam(earth) and: Om(head cakra) Ah(throat) Hung(heart) |
