A Swindon 120 Diesel Multiple Unit has just arrived from Inverness and is pictured in Platform 6. At this time the adjacent Platform 7 was laid out as a siding and a BR Mark 1 BG (Gangwayed Brake) Parcels Vehicle can be seen in the corner of the photo. Over the fence to the right of the photo is the area of the North Bay Platforms, lifted in the late 1960s / early 1970s.

Today Platform 6 is still a through platform and the track in platform 7 has been altered back to a through platform layout once again, however platforms 8 & 9 have been abandonded and are fenced off.
