Auchnagatt was opened in 1861 to serve a local community. Today the station (which had offset platforms) suvives mostly intact, with one platform even sporting posts which would have held the Station Nameboard. Gas lamp posts can also been seen alongwith the station building, now converted into a house. The southernmost platform ends partially in earth due to the realignment of a road which previously crossed the railway on a level crossing.
