Parkhill was a two platformed station which (I believe) had staggered (offset) platforms. At least one of these platforms survives alongwith the station building. Evidently Parkhill was not well frequented by the public, as British Railways closed it in 1950.

However, such a great deal of traffic was sent up the Formartine & Buchan Railway during the first world war that powers had to be sought to double the line between Dyce & Ellon. These powers were granted on 24 June 1915 but war delayed the start of construction and the new track only reached a new signal box at Elrick, some 1 1/2 miles from Parkhill, by 31 May 1920. The remainder of the construction was never completed, and the double track fell out of use in 1921, and was subsequently only used during the herring season until 1925 when the additional track and signalling was removed.

At the southern end of Parkhill Station, the railway bridge over the road beneath has been removed and recently replaced with a modern bridge which allows the Formartine & Buchan Way to cross the road without requiring a height restriction to be placed on the road again. A small car park located to the east of the station (intended for users of the Formartine & Buchan Way) is unfortunately frequented by travellers who have on several occasions spoilt the area by leaving large amounts of rubbish behind.
