Inveramsey Junction was the location where the Banff, Macduff & Turriff railway joined the Great North of Scotland Railway. The branch closed in 1951 to passengers and closed north of Turriff to freight in 1961. Final closure came in 1966 and today there is little to indicate the former importance of this site.

Platforms on the mainline side of the station survive (the mainline has been singled since closure of the station) but there appears to be little or no evidence of the branch side platforms. Some station buildings appear to survive and the branch trackbed can be clearly followed leading up to the former junction.
