Molasses Oatmeal Bread
Ingredients
3 cups flour
1 cup oats
1/2 t salt
1 package yeast
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup margarine
1 egg
Doings
Combine in mixing bowl 2 14/ cups flour, the oats, salt, and yeast. combine water, milk, molasses, and margarine in a pan. Heat to
120-130 F. Let cool. with mixer on medium, gradually add liquids to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes. Add egg and 3/8
cup flour; beat 2 minutes Stir in enough additional flour to make soft dough. Turn out and knead 8-10
minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Punch down and turn out onto lightly floured surface. Divide into 2 equal parts. Shape
as you wish. Cover loaves and let rise 1 hour. Bake at 400 for about 30 minutes.

This is one of the myriad recipes I obtained from Ariele's Recipe Archive.
However, I don't know if I approve of these yeast bread recipes that don't require
you to proof the yeast. The bread does indeed rise, but you don't get the full
punch of the yeast if it isn't proofed. When you don't proof the yeast, the bread
comes out much more thick and tough than if you don't.
On to Spinach Quiche.
