Battle Report Up! -
Angelife |
| Thurs. |
One of the better battle reports I've ever read is now up.
It tells the thrilling tale of an epic battle between Idle's own Ferno,
coupled with the deadly NCG nasty himself, Markus (who's actually quite
nice, I just couldn't think of a term that began with N :) against the
"dead weight" that is SoylentRed and
the "hapless" yours truly, Angel. An
excerpt follows:
|
"This leaves Soy in a bind, neither he, nor Angel has mobile detection and the Lurkers are positioned
so that Soy's main is essentially useless. While
Soy is not as bad off as Ferno, he is still essentially just dead weight right now
in the game and the battle is now mainly between the surging Markus and the hapless Angel.

Read the report here, which I
couldn't resist titling "Aftershock ][, The Die Inferno Map Continues its
Reign of Terror"
and comment on it here!

to Old posting format -

In some ways this does seem a better posting format. I've
added a feature to allow people to post responses to news items (where
appropriate) just the way all the top sites allow! You can comment here. |

Emails -

Sometimes, I get mail that's dumb. Then, sometimes I get mail that's
downright clueless. For your entertainment and edification, I offer a
collection of email that somewhat bugged me, amused me, or was from people I
wanted to make fun of! A sample appears...

From: clueless@cs.com
can u tell me how to copy CD's onto other CD's without buying expensive
crap?
No problem. Just buy a $1.00 blank CD-R from your local
electronics store. Put it next to the CD you want to copy, shiny surface to
shiny surface. Put these two CD's like this underneath your mattress, next to
all the naughty magazines you hide from your mommy. Sleep on it for at least
THREE nights, making sure the CD's don't get moved. That will work as well as
any other technique that does not involve "expensive crap".

Thrilling Adventures of [S]Noobie! Part
1 -
Angelife |
|
The third report, Heaped Piles Battle
Agony, or the Thrilling Adventures of [s]Noobie is the amusing tale of Knight's and my efforts to get a public game
going....
|
"you really should see Angel ham it up when in noobie mode, it is scary
because she can perfectly imitate a clueless noobie) and I am indifferent, if
Angel wants to mess with some lamer I am more than happy to oblige her" [I
never said I imitated a clueless newbie! -- ed.]

Wed. | Two
NEW reports by Knight! -
Angelife |
|
OK no fewer than two new reports by Knight! These are great reports,
and I say that not simply because of the kind tolerance he has for my playing,
but for the fine writing and wry sense of humor he brings to the work!
His second report is a revised
version of his first intrepid
battle report, now complete with pictures. A sample follows:
|
"Sure enough, thanks to Milk's
scouting Overlord that observes Angel's
wacky build, Lotus and Milk decide to attack. At least 10 Lings,
and 3 Zealots are sent to the outskirts of Angel's
base. Unfortunately for our heroes Milk
and Lotus, one Zealot gets cold feet
and decides that instead of going to attack Angel,
he would rather run randomly around his base for about 10
seconds."
|
To find out if Angel's wacky build survives the day, you can check out the
first version here, the fancy
second version here, and comment on
them both here!

The Picture of this month; so far the picture of EVERY month. Inferno and I got
bored fighting a turtle! |
A good gaming weekend; just wish I could win more of em! Knight has posted
his very first battle report for the site... Check it out here
-- it features none other than ... me :) Congratulations to Knight for writing
the report, and to Ferno, Lotus and Milk for a good game.
February News:
Just when I thought I'd gotten rid of the news! Congratulations go out to
Idle's own BigGravyTrain, playing as [WP]BlackKnight for getting
mentioned on the mighty starcraft.org website!
His game vs one of the lizard lads was written up by EvilKid here.
Did BGT win? Check it out.
So what's new? It's been a while since I've updated... a long
while. For your entertainment and edification, I have a new vocabulary list
that's well worth checking out, and several images. I'd really like to get
feedback on the list, either via email
or on the forum. Got
terms to add? Let me know!
There have also been changes and updates to the (now working) forum links,
and the Idlers page has been updated.
I found this screen shot amusing, submitted to me by someone who
shall remain anonymous... taken after a couple of good games ferno and I played
with other idlers:

And this one, from a game where [it] (inferno) and I got a
little bored, fighting a terran turtle:
While I was busy making carriers, ferno was doing something...
else!
Finally, I thought I'd show you all an appropriate computer
setup for playing StarCraft. The
monitor on the left displays and replays all of SoylentRed's
losses as an ongoing hypercam tutorial; the monitor on the right [blacked out] displays all of Lotus'
cursing and complaining. The middle left monitor is for maintaining web pages
and doing work, as well as displaying summaries of AngeLosses, and the middle right monitor (with the trackball next to it) is
for playing starcraft!
