BigGravyTrain	A West Point fellow; good player. He always seems to turn up just as I've agreed to play with someone else, or just as I'm logging off for the night... oh well :/	C
Frogprince:)	Good player. Hammered me the first time out with a risky 4 reaver drop. Was very pleasant to do something similar to him recently! Formerly known as FS-Froggy
SirClayton	Lacurno's brother. Good player.

Blackies	Nice guy; good player. Very good at scouting. Great masser.	Y
Tairs~Crusader	(and other crusaders) Tairs is good, very good. I used to think he was soso, then looked closely at his playing capabilities. Kinda like me, he lamely goes terran (I go toss); unlike me, he's a very good old school masser. Other crusaders vary. Some great, some bozos.	Y
Latin`	Good player. Nice guy. Does some good web page work. aka elf~crusader.	S

Unknown Idlers

Radivel	Good player, poor at terran, especially on big maps :)	S?

FS-Anarchy	Co-head of Female Soldiers. Not to be confused with pure. Great player, nice guy. A co-leader of FireSwarm Clan.	S
FS-Oka	Good player; oft found with Rasz.	W
FS-Chaos	Co-head of the "Female Soldiers" Clan (isn't that what FS stands for :) ?) Great Toss player, very strong at other races too.
FS-Inferno	Also known as Evil-Inferno for his propensity to arouse ire and resentment on the forum. Strong player; loves to mass.	S

PsiSoldier	An -- perhaps THE -- Idler original, Great player, knows some of the great and the good on bnet. Also helps me with web layout whenever I can waylay him!	S

ZMonkey	The young Padawan. Student and disciple of ZenCraft. Mostly Plays War 2 BNE now.	S

Core Idlers	People who've been around a long, long time and with whom i still play a lot.
Old Idlers	People who've, like core, been around a long time, but whom usually I haven't seen as much lately.
Other Idlers	Idlers that I don't know that well -- botmail me or email me and tell me about yourself -- or challenge me for a game.
Unknown Idlers	I don't know a lot about you!
Brap Boys/Girls	Those from a variety of clans who inhabit the mysterious channel Brap, and sometimes drop in to idle looking for a game.
Female Soldier Idlers	Although most of these people are guys, for some reason they call themselves the Female Soldiers (FS for short). I don't blame 'em. The best ones do kinda play like girls.(For those who just don't get it, this is the FireSwarm clan!)
Deadlocked Idlers	A group that used to play the game deadlock and gravitated to both starcraft, and, sometimes, Idle. I play with them (Jenn and Fiesta especially) probably most of all.
Idle Idlers	Well hey, you haven't been around for a while, but I know you're still alive.
Idler Idlers	People who were in channel long ago, but have not been seen for months.
Banned	You're here if you've been banned and there is some small hope of redemption. Comment indicates why ban and what you have to do to get it lifted.

What are "The Idlers".... or who? Well, I coined the term when I noticed that it was hard to get good games with people who were both decent players, and reasonably decent people (or at least capable of behaving like same for a bit). Battle.Net is filled with a lot of immature 14 year olds mouthing off and behaving like... well, like kids.

If you're an adult (young or old), or even an teen who takes the game seriously and wants to play with like minded people, it can sometimes be hard to find them.

What are the Idler's not? Well we're not a clan, or even a guild. I've simply defined this group as people who hang out on Channel Idle (in Battle.Net) now and then and play games here. Many are members of other clans. This used to be a channel for several clans; as far as I know they are either all dead or have moved.

We don't like comp games generally. Almost all of us prefer to fight that most unpredictable intelligence -- another human being. Most of us rather dislike hunters and its many derivatives for a variety of reasons -- it's overplayed, it has choke points that are lots of fun for an untalented Turtle, resulting in games that can last forever, but are neither educational or entertaining.

Well now the who? I should say I don't have everyone's permission to list their his or her id here; since I've defined this group so loosely -- people who come to idle sometimes and play -- I don't see that as a problem. If you do, please let me know, and I will remove your name or annotate it as you wish. Again the disclaimer -- this is not a clan.

Comments on playing skills -- "Great" = player has been ranked on a past ladder, or IMHO could be if he/she put the effort into it. For example, FS-Chaos hit a high of #17 on BW-Ladder Season 1. SoylentRed hit a high of 33 or so on SC-Ladder Season 1.

"Good" player is in the very general neighborhood of my skill level. Someone here could be ranked, but most likely early in the season or at position 998.

"Fair" player -- player's either new and learning or old and rusty. These rankings are highly subjective on my part and somewhat arbitrary. They may come from having fought against someone or from having fought with them, and can come (but usually don't) from as small a sample as 1-2 games. Their purpose is not to create a 'hierarchy' or ranking of players, simply to indicate who might give you more of a challenge.

I don't 1v1 so it's hard to say how I'd do on a matchup of that type. But on a 2v2 if any 'good' player were paired with a random great against 2 random greats, they should win about a third of the time.

Now... this table was first put together in May '99, and lightly updated in April 2000... so it's apt to be just a bit out of date!
