In solitude, I ponder choices
Against a background of midnight voices.
The night brings out in startling view,
What the bright sun hides with its vibrant hue.
The thoughts that team and deny me sleep,
Are often ones I bury deep.
My hidden worries, deepest fears
Bring on anxiety, anguish, tears.

I've never solved them by a sleepless night.
Insomnia cannot make them right.
The fine is heavy, I have to pay.
Unrested, I must face the day.
Without my problems solved or mended
The worries and fears, mixed and blended.
I'd rather sleep and face tomorrow
Without a night of sleepless sorrow.
