A poem by Rae Ann Crabtree
change
wonderful
hideous
thing
change your mind
your shoes or dress
turns straight thought
into a guess
up and down
we must go
for what
we gotta know
hate and love
between a line
reach for light
for peace of mind
we look and see
that nothing's there
then with a glance
we start to care
crowds of people
solitude
what we are
supposed to do
throw our arms
in the air
no
know that he
will hear our prayer
when the weakness
makes us strong
when our trials
right some wrong
when we think
can't take no more
we can
better than before
climb
life's ladder
step by step
to fall into
his loving net
to bring our past
into our heart
remember blessings
set apart
forgiveness comes
three ways
see
from him
from you
from me
exercise
on bended knee
ask for help
in time of need
life has seasons
we must live
a time for taking
a time to give
patience
and kindness
we must now
while here on earth
and when we go back to him
its hard
to imagine
the change
that will be
waiting for us
and family
but we must
endure to
the very end
of each lazy day
call a friend
share misery
share smiles
the calm
the wild
take heed
ponder
then weed
the good
from the ugly
let go
and be happy
as long
as you
understand
spare change
wonderful
hideous
thing
is waiting
over the next hill
to mold us
against our will
we fight it
every time
why
is this a crime
no
no its not
it just the way
we hard heads got
to learn
from day to day
and in between
all this
sneaks in
comfort
bliss
wisdom
even
thankfulness
