Over two hundred years
of life and death
had passed in the slime pits
filled with mud and regrets.
Over two hundred years
Egypt denied
worship and love
to our Father on High.
Over two hundred years
of bondage and pain,
forced to work without God
and their souls in chains.
Over two hundred years
Egypt fed them false faith
made of licentious idolatry
gross wickedness and hate.
Over two hundred years
had passed in the night
when God had commanded
Israel take flight.
The Lord had persuaded
all of Egypt to see
it was His wish and desire
to set Israel free.
And for their great labors
pay them silver and gold,
replace rags with fine raiment/
then let them go,
The debts were paid promptly
and Israel escaped
with an abundance of gold
and silver to take.
Moses led the huge masses
teaching each day
the Lords glorious promise,
His love and His way.
For two months they traveled
over hot desert sand
to reach Mount Sinai,
in God’s Holy Land.
So Moses could talk
with the Lord face to face,
while Israel waited
at the great mountain’s base.
Forty days had dragged on
without word, hint or sign
from Moses or Joshua
who had made the climb.
The people grew uneasy
with the passing of time,
so they cried to Moses’ brother
what was in their twisted minds.
Aaron feared rebellion
so he took gold and made
a molted calf to worship
in an evil, perverted way.
As Israel was dancing
naked, without shame
Moses had descended
and demanded they explain.
In a storm of righteous wrath
Moses swept down on the crowd
he said “Those who still believe
to our Lord and God must bow!”
Then he seized the calf of gold
and destroyed it in a fire,
stomped the liquid into dust,
and did what God required.
Moses scooped the golden dust
and flung it in a stream
Israel must drink it
commanded Moses scream.
He turned to the sons of Levi
who were brave enough to stand
by Moses and our angry God,
with a sword in each hand.
All men who were guilty
of corruption must be killed,
whether brother, friend or neighbor
the deed was God’s own will.
The sons of Levi obeyed
and searched from gate to gate
they fell upon 3,000
who met a deadly fate.
These people had sinned greatly
against true knowledge and light
taught to them by Moses
drenched in the Lord’s delight.
But two months of divine teaching
was not enough to end
over two hundred years of lies
from heathen rites and sin.
This failure was ho small mistake
made by His chosen few,
it became the greatest tragedy
that history ever knew.
Even after they repented
and covenant with the Lord,
God said He’s talk with Moses
but Israel no more.
With the Promised Land denied
to this lowly Israel nation,
Moses focused on the young
reaching faith, love and
humiliation.
