Nine Inch Nails loves Quake. Okay okay, that's old news [you DO know that Trent did the soundtrack for Q1, don't you? .. you DO know who Trent is, don't you??].
In a recent interview conducted by incite.com, the frontman extraordinaire shares his thoughts on Quake III and mentions the band's favourite mod for the game, Weapons Factory. Read the interview. If you're an impatient fuck though, fast forward to the bit on Quake on page 6.

A pretty old update for those who missed it. Q3A version 1.17 has been released. A warning here, it is not compatible with previous versions. This release fixes a 'fairly serious' security issue that involved malicious server admins possibly overwriting files on client machines. There are also a couple of fixes for server crashes in there.
Does anyone know if the sound dropping issue has been addressed?

On a side note, id Software has officially announced their Quake III: Team Arena mission pack. It's the first one from the id boys since Master Levels way back for DOOM. It's gonna have lots of new teamplay mods; one of them sounds a little like the old Headhunters mod for Quake.

It's confirmed : Clan Kraken will be putting their zero-loss record at stake when they face Black Label this 14th of May. The clan match will be held at Warzone in Damansara Jaya at "around 10.00am". I should be home by then... so I guess I could spectate or even PLAY for the sea monstas [!!uu!! ;)]. That is if I'm still fit for battle after this week-long vacation on the 'island of not so many quakers around besides those whores at clan edge [hai guys]'.
Note the latest addition to the black box at the top [beside the south of heaven logo dammit]. Yeah, that's the purpose of the box... to headline the latest happenings going on in the local scene. So feel free to e-mail one of us mofos if you've got something that needs the publicity that only south of heaven can provide your event with .. heh.
I wonder if I can modify others' posts. Here goes...
Blacklabel faces problems regarding the match schedule; or rather DiademZ doesn't think his biological clock can take the abuse of waking up the ungodly hour of 10am and Parasite will not be free then as well. Anthracite has proposed the match be held later in Silver Surfer instead, but details are as yet unconfirmed.
Anyway, some guy was thrown through the glass door of SkySurf, and not Silver Surfer as misreported in bL's page. =)

Something personal here. I've issued a challenge to NBTD's LilHamster just to get things over with and add some spice into the politics. A Q3 duel, he gets to pick the map; and a CS (ehe) 1 on 1, I get to pick the map. 15 minutes each. Whoever wins both will get free dinner and in the case of a draw, we'll call a truce. I wonder when he'll hear about this...

"The Lakerbot is an enhanced bot I'm currently working on for Quake III Arena. My goal is for it to be more challenging and 'pro player'-like than the standard Quake 3 bots.

Yes there's a new patch out for Q3, which is NOT COMPATIBLE with the older versions of the game out there. What it means is that before this where a v1.15 client could play with a server running v1.16, this is not the case. Apparently there is a serious flaw in Q3's security where the server could overwrite any file on a client system, thus explaining the incompatibility of v1.17 with older versions of the game. In addition to fixing this network problem, v1.17 includes all 3 .pk3 files and single player crash problems. The win32 .exe weighs in at 8.7mb, get it here from the Shugashack, if the shack's too busy always try the other international news sites on our links page

Hey all. Yes, it's me RaptoR da non-c0cky guy who will be updating you mofos on the latest gossips, news and what not about the local scene. Right now, nothing to report actually, but keep coming back as I'll have a few interviews with our local elite quakers in a week's time hopefully. :)
Oh, CS players generally suck... It's pretty darn obvious that the skill level involved is pretty minimal compared to quake... and yes, i'm inviting flames. :)

Ars Technica has a review-of-sorts of the spooge-inducing GeForce2 GTS, one of the many new generation vidcards to hit the block. Check it out cos those guys at Ars are the bomb, you'll still find their articles interesting even if you have the IQ level of the resident ditzy blond. What I found useful though is the primer on the Q3 lighting methods in page 3 of the article.

If you mofos didn't know already [or probably don't give much of a damn], I'm up in Penang visiting my family and hanging out with my high school homies. A few nights ago I was having supper with Rommel [aka Rand0me on irc], leader of Penang's premier CS clan Clan Edge, and one of his clannies [wassup kenneth ho'], and I found out that the CPL Asia Frag Fest 2000 fever has spread to the Penangites as well. Edge, affiliates of Asylum, is sending down two CS squads [yeh this piece of news is CS-related, sorry I didn't warn earlier, heh] to Singapore for the CS half of Frag Fest 2k. Other CS hopefuls heading down south include Nael's buddies over at NBTD, heh.
Related rant : Penang CSers are lame. Rand0me wasn't kidding when he ranted sometime back that ghosters and dead reporters are the norm in Penang. And boy, that's probably the understatement of the millenium. The following are a few examples why:
i) Penang CSers would not hestitate to look at your screen even when both of you are down to a tense 1on1 in the round. And the fact that the fag in concern doesn't bother making his actions look less obvious is fuckin sick... you can just catch a sight of his leering drool [those that you get when you know you're in for an easy kill] from the corner of your eye while trying to concentrate on playing. Believe me, this actually happens in Penang... KeiL speaks from experience.
ii) Don't be surprised to hear hollered excuses from losers of the round that goes along the lines of "FUCK YOU GUYS WON ONLY BECAUSE MY GHOSTERS AREN'T QUICK ENOUGH TO REPORT TO ME!!". 'nuff said.

Argus for Quake 3

I ripped this news off Cached's who ripped it off sCary's Shugashack.
The "coolest Q3 utility" so far, Argus allows you to analyze demos on your HD from Quake 3 and more impressive it allows you to actually connect live to a Quake3 server and spectate from an overhead view all the action. It will analyze player positions and give you real time statistics on player positions, weapon usage etc. All this without ever loading up Quake3.
Although it's still under heavy construction, you probably wouldn't want to miss this; great novelty factor anyhow.

TMQ plans for a new tourney

TMnet's DonV!to has posted an update on TMQuake's Website regarding plans on a gathering among Quakers at the TMQ Headquaters (Ground floor, Kelana Parkview Tower, SS 6/1, Kelana Jaya).
The last time we heard from TMQ, the WTD Quake 3 FFA Tourney was cancelled after the bad turnout from the first two groups. TMQ also faced sponsorship problems.
DonV!to has since found sponsors for the PCs; he plans to hold a discussion on organizing another Q3A tournament. 8 PCs will also be networked for free Q3A LANning. All this happening coming Saturday, 6th of May.

Hello everyone, I'm just posting my obligatory Virgin Post. I guess I should flesh it out a little and since everyone is being so nice and pleasant I figure the site should have some sort of a "bad boy".
So I'll take it upon myself to kick-start things: NBTD sucks. Rather, their leader sucks. Sure they're pretty tight technically but I hate the fact that they've absorbed their closest challengers Sub Zero, not unlike that big M (not McD's doh) who assimilates all competition; the worst part is LilHumpster seems to be treating his new team members like some kinda low class citizens.
Despicable. I'm just glad I don't stand alone in thinking so. Perhaps I could grab an interview with the ex-NBTD and NBTD-again ex-SZero leader Stryker_X one of these days. I'm sure he'll be full of interesting anecdotes. =)
Speaking of which, NBTD have finally gotten their own site up on the Web, courtesy of Sugizo, late victim of the Borg.

Some of you who visit SHOD might have noticed that demos are really taking long to get posted .. well weeks ago SHOD announced that they're gonna merge with XS Reality for streamlined coverage, easier access to demos, bigger better bandwidth, and of course more moolah for advertising. The latest news is that the 3 week old relaunched Truegamers.net has accepted XSR's offer of merging, bringing 3 good sites together to form what surely would be THE authority on quake news online. Let's just hope that XSR's non-quake news would get a boost too, I get kicks outta reading hakeem's music cd reviews. BTW, the new XSR only comes online later this month. All this coming from a shugashack fan heh.

Seems like Clan Supernaturals are back on the offensive. They have issued a challenge to Clan Eclipse, but thus far nothing has been confirmed yet. Asylum also has issued a challenge to the Eclipsians asking for a match before the end of the week. Good luck with the negotiations ppl.
An unreliable source (heh) has alerted me on Kraken's plans to play Clan Eclipse on the 7th of this month [a Sunday] and Black Label later. Can anyone confirm this? Yes SENg, I don't really trust you. ;)

Ugh, had a minor drinking session last night. That's what you get when you haven't seen your high-school friends in 4 whole months. But being the strong man that I am, I shrugged off the alchohol [yes, all that was contained in 3 mugs of beer!!] and managed to send my homies back home. And of course to ensure my safe-return to my swanky family apartment ;p You wouldn't want anything to happen to me, would you?
