Interview with an Angel
[ 4:01 PM | Nael
]
I generally avoid posting links to interviews with CPL founder Angel Munoz, simply because there are too many with almost similar content. This one, done by UK's The Playing Fields is slightly different and worth a quick read. Be prepared to consider Counter-Strike as a viable alternative to your pro-aspirations after reading this interview. Also, if what he said about Fatality being swarmed by those booth bunnies after winning is true, it's something to work for; if you're not already attached and loyal that is.

Got this piece of news from Epicenter. According to rain, this is what he has to say about the recent "debating" between CS players and Quake players in Singapore.
If someone insulted u, calling u names u have the rights to report the matter to the Server Admins especially when u have lots of witness. Moreover all conversations can be recorded and have records. U can also sent a copy to the ISP for report on abuse of service and follow up wif a Police report if its more serious like threatening to hurt.
Talk about insulting someone for giving you a headshot or a rocket in your face. If this law is here in Malaysia, I am sure that every cybercafe will have no more patrons.

Remember Fallout? Remember Fallout 2? Those were the best RPG games ever (according to me). Well the upcoming sequel to the 2 games will be coming soon. The story goes back when Earth was destroyed by a nuclear falout and man has been living in Vaults in order to protect them from the fallout and radiation. Anyway here is a site which provides you with data and screenshots of the game.

Late News

My computer has been giving me a lot of troubles so I sent it to be reformated and changed my motherboard, this explains my dissapearance these past few days. Anyway Kraken got another walkover in the Warzone League. Up to this extent I am not sure whether the match will be postponed or the losing clan will have -3 points. GFN won the latest NBTD surf Counter Strike tournament last weekend while a Penang clan by the name of D.K (I think so) took second place. Clan Div took third while Clan Ghost took 4th. Congrats to GFN!

More Carnage!
[ 5:43 PM | Nael
]
Project Eyeball has yet another feature on Carnage. His secret to success?
It seems odd that Carnage could become the best Quake player here without much practice. In fact, he feels that practice doesn't necessarily make you a top player.
So he prefers to spend his time chasing other pursuits like clubbing, drinking and listening to music (he particularly likes acid jazz and trip-hop). In a related article, Carnage also talks about how to be a top class player:
However, Carnage feels that "the X-factor is what separates the good from the great".
He cannot describe in words what this X-factor is, although it is something which is evident in the way some gamers control their opponents and the moves they execute.
According to him, some of the other local gamers which have this elusive quality include Bryan "Shearer" Low and Jeff "Forsaken" Yap.

The CPL announced that the registration website for the Half-Life Counter-Strike $15,000 team tournament, sponsored by Razer, has been launched.
Only two steps are needed to complete the registration:
1. Register for the Babbage's CPL Event at: http://registration.thecpl.com/registration.php?id=2. (If previously registered skip this step)
2. Register at the special Counter-Strike registration website located at http://registration.thecpl.com/cs/. Registrants need only to provide their Reference Number that was obtained while registering for the Babbage's CPL Event and select their team.
Grudging thanks to Cached's for this piece of news.
BTW, the details for the event are as follows:

Carnage the Geek
[ 8:33 PM | Nael

Carnage, or "Darren Lee" -eheh- is featured in The Geek's Room this week. Step inside to see what Project Eyeball managed to scoop outta him! Complete with a higher resolution pic that DISPROVES once and for all he and our Kopitiam are related; although I don't want to be bold enough to say if that's better or not.
Being a Good Clan Member

Hell, yes, my sentiments exactly. An old article by PestControl talks about the differences between a clanner and a gamer, and it's very logically constructed.
Clans are based at their core on friendship, not any ambitious desire to be the elite of the elite. Ambition is a goal, not a premise for a clan. All 1 active clan out there should take note and read this piece of advice, painstakingly sourced from the Epicenter news.
Quake vs CS, Singapore Style

From NBTD forums to darkest thoughts to paGan, the rift between Quake and CS only threatens to widen.
Thanks to [BL]Buzz and his exploits in an RA3 server:

Expect to see shite like:
I was playing Rocket Arena 3 in Clan Arena when me and one guy died at each others rockets. We were laughing at each other when this guy Buzz just said " Must be a CS player. Oni CS player tak brain". I think you can well imagine the rest.

Do You Like Hot Feet?
[ 2:58 PM | Nael

There's a little poll at XS-Reality involving 20 somewhat well-known Q3A players regarding their opinions of the new 1.25y (beta) patch, and those who do remember that the patch fixes the physics all gave positive points in that area. However, the big issue is the "floor splash" bug where damage seems to go through certain segments of the floors in various maps, most notably in T4 (you bitches).
Some think getting it "fixed" will ruin the current way most maps are played, while a few others (notably Thresh) think that it's a pretty neat idea because it logically gives control to the player on the topmost level. I can't say for sure how this will affect the game, selection of maps in tourneys or dominance with the rail; however, fixing something so drastic this late in the development cycle is usually a bad sign that's sure to create a furore. Whatever the case, people will have to get used to it.
Hmm, if only we could get a poll up and running here... what do you think? Having actually tried 1.25y would be very helpful.

A quick look at the new Clan 666 homepage, or more specifically the Members page shows a "Nael" in it.
Very impressive of me to be everywhere at once, and especially in a cs clan. ;P

Silizon Horizon Locally

Silicon Horizon is here already! They moved into an office somewhere in KL and you can guess that the latest in gaming hardware will be out in stores soon. Don't forget to catch the latest in mousepads like the FUnc and also Everglides. Also if you are interested in getting a Boomslang, well there won't be any more troubles getting it. Don't forget to check out their website to view the latest in gaming hardware and also other stuff.
Warzone League Updates
[ 1:16 AM | Mavik

The only time I get to update league results are when Kraken has a match. Well today's match featured Kraken versus TGA at Warzone2. Kraken having taken CT during the first round beat TGA 7-1. In the second round Kraken beat TGA 7-2. gg TGA.Another update. It looks like not all NBTD players are only contending for highest frags. Zen from Clan SI (Sanctioned Insanity) has enough frags from their recent matches to actually give NBTD players some challenge. Remember may the best fragger win! New rulings have been made. There will be no more walkovers and the team that doesn't turn up will have 3 points minused from their total points.
Quake 3 Invitational

Yes its a tourney at long last for us quakers held by Silicon Horizon, the company that provides us with gaming hardware like the Boomslang in Asia. It will be in December and it will be for Malaysians only. Maybe with this news I hope we can start our training now? With any luck, the Malaysian team might be chosen through this tourney. So you quakers out there better train hard. I think maybe the top 8 will be chosen. The format and the rules have not been set so more updates coming!

What a surprise I got when I went over to check out TMQ's site. First was the superb graphics and also the new web address. Then came some music, Break Stuff? Hah, actually was my MP3 playing actually. Damn, I thought the guys over at TMQ had a sudden change to Limp Bizkit. Anyway there is a online CS tourney held by TMQ. The prizes are given each week if I am not wrong and a grand prize will be given to the top 3 best players. Check out more info here. Looks like maybe CHMY might get a little competition from this site. gg Don Vito!

In the recent/ongoing NBTD furore an interesting link cropped up in relation to the anti-Ah Beng/Jinjang/Tucow issue.
Here you go, Honda-modifiers:
The Rice Boy Page.
Seems like America faces the same problems... unfortunately, you just can't escape from some cultures. Thankfully, Mavik's Waja doesn't have the potential l33tness as compared to the usually horribly mangled Wira.
Cars here?
[ 4:38 PM | Mavik

Ok here is an update about our country's latest car, the Proton Waja. Built to be a higher performance car compared to the Proton Wira, EON boast of better stabality and less vibration and sound for the Proton Waja. Well only managing a 0 to 100kph in 12 seconds and having a maximum speed of 186kph, this car is actually quite good for our country's standard. You can't really compare it to foreign car manufacturers. I mean how long have they been manufacturing cars while EON is just new. Also Proton Waja's have been released and you can see many of them on the road. Having 101.08bhp this car has one third of the power of a Impreza. Well hopefully when the specs of the 1.8litre version is out, and the results are good, I may just love the car. By the way, do you know that a Satria GTi is more powerfull than a Ford Focus? Hard to believe? Well a Satria GTi has 140bhp while a Ford Focus only produces 113bhp. Now what do you have to say about Malaysian made cars!
