June 2000 Quake 3 Horoscam

Check out the Quake 3 Horoscam over at Gamers.com. What does June have in store for all you serious Quakers out there? Whatabout the local boys wanking it down in Singapore? Can somebody tell me KeiL's sign?

[9]c3 and DA-Reptile speak

Matador over at Challenge-US has posted two (relatively) new interviews with c3 and Reptile. It makes c3 look prick-ish and it's great to have ex-D8 say some really encouraging things about the DM-DR merger. Yeah, yeah, I'm a shameless DR groupie. From this interview you get to learn things like Demolition being a "fun" clan set up by some members of Death Row (TwistedKiller = DM-Crash, Reptile = DM-Explosive) for some QWCA action. Snipped from the Reptile interview:

Okay, the inevitable question. Thresh?

Well after a couple brief phone calls with Thresh, (not made by me btw)it was relayed to me that he has interest in playing again and it's uncertain on how much time he will be able to devote to this new team. As of this point I would say that Thresh has intentions of playing...but there are no promises.

So in short...will he become active immediately?

No.....he wont.....

But I wouldnt be afraid to see him pop up sometime in the near future. Afraid/surprised.

BKRM in Singapore

Clan Backroom have arrived in Singapore. Check out their website's latest update by their main man Fly, right from Whir's uncle's house. They bumped into Guiz & gang at immigration too! Are Blacklabel safe and cosy, enjoying beef noodles? Will KeiL prove himself to be the Secret Weapon after all? Stay tuned as we wait for word from the babe himself!

Meanwhile, I'll be updating on the local front instead (bah) or more precisely, the TMnet Q3A tourney.

KeiL, it's your cue...

cK-Fatality

The world's number one 1-on-1 player, Fatality, is a confirmed member of Clan Kapitol. Sorry for the late news, this happened on Sunday but I overlooked it. Check out this thread at Cached's regarding Fatality, his clan movements and thoughts about the whole situation.
cK now looks the most solid East side Q3A clan.

Wassup all, you mofuks ready?

All right, the Malaysian contingent is all set to leave for Singapore for Atomic Arena 1. My luggage is halfway packed already and once I'm done I'll be heading for WarZone in Damansara Jaya for some hardcore [read: last minute] practice with the crew there. Clan Backroom will be making an appearance too tonite so like head down over to wish them [and me, of course] good luck, or if you want to get pre-fame signatures of the Backroom WonderKids™.

If you're not going to Singapore ... hahahhaha too bad, beetch!

And if our plans get skrewed up at the last-minute [which is something that I wouldn't be surprised of], then I guess that I can just suck it down.

TMQuake Q3A Tournament

LaVache and Kopitiam [you suck if you don't know who they are] are organising a Quake 3 Tournament to be held THIS Saturday [10 June] at TMnet's House Of Internet aka THE Pink Building in Kelana Jaya. Of course, you can tell that the event is sponsored by TMnet [wassup donvito and spawnx].

The tourney starts in the morning [and ends when "we have a champion"]. It'll have FFA qualifiers, then it's 1on1 till "we have a champion" [heh, I love that line]. There'll be no registration fees, and "good prizes" awaits the champion. You'll have to make your way to Taylor's College on Thursday at 2-3pm to register though, and that's tomorrow. But I'm pretty sure that you can reserve a spot without having to go to Taylor's if you e-mail Kopitiam cos he's just such a nice beetch. Here's a thread from the TMQ Multiplayer Online Games msgboard that has the werd regarding the tourney.

The TMQ website has been redesigned too, and the logos are just k-rad. And yes, this is the event to be at, that is if you ain't going for Atomic Arena 1. heh.

Death Row and Demolition form the Deadly Alliance

c3 and Makaveli leave both Deathrow and Demolition. Not to worry, they both merge to form Deadly Alliance.
Possibly in an attempt to combat with the new 9 clan? As Crash said long time ago "Some other clans may be coming up with tricks of their own" or something to that extent.

Ripped off Cached.net, here's the following from their new channel:

*** Now talking in #da
*** Topic is 'Deadly Alliance (I think we're a Q3 clan) || DA-B2 owns [9]c3 in golf. || 1on1 challenges accepted soon (against B2)'

*** DA-Jmaster changes topic to 'PAXED OWNS U ALL WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cache: I Knew something was up when I didn't see Jmaster hop to another clan this year. Anyway, I ran off a few Quick Questions to DA-Reptile about the merger:

Cache: How Active will the clan be this year 3?

DA-Reptile: We expect this clan to be very active over the established internet tournaments that pop up. As far as the LAN based tourneys, anything WEST coast we will attend and anything else we will have to see how our current financial outlook is. =)

Cache: Was this a result of c3/makaveli leaving their DR/DM or was it already in the works.

DA-Reptile: The talks for this merger had been started several months prior to C3 and Makaveli leaving the teams. Having those players leave each of the teams though helped us move in our current direction.

Cache:. Will the clan represent at K9con and the CPL Team Tourney?

DA-Reptile: As things are still new for this new team, we cannot guarantee attendance at any LAN based competition. We will have a much larger chance of attending a West Coast tourney than we would a tourney located anywhere else.

DA-Reptile We do have desires to compete in all tournaments that exist though for team based competition.

Cache: Does thresh know about the merger or is he basically out of the picture totally?

DA-Reptile no it has been discussed with him
DA-Reptile and he's given the thumb's up
DA-Reptile as all of the current members have done also

Just a note, Demolition was actually formed by Death Row's own TwistedKiller (a.k.a. DM-Crash if I'm not mistaken).

MGON|fatality

Fatality has joined Clan MGON-Media & Games Online Network (their sponsors name). All we know so far is that everyone in MGON is member of a dm clan. Their website http://www.clanmgon.com will be going up next week.

[xeno]: DY-Syng goes to Asia

[xeno]:DY-Syng of Clan Xeno will be going down for the Atomic Arena 1 event. Read about this and more about the other players who will be making an appearance at the AA1 over here at Cached's.

The Man Speaketh

Paul Steed [that former modeller/animator at id software] has broken his silence over the whole issue [you don't deserve to be re-briefed on the details if you haven't been reading soh the last few days] at Stomped. Head over herefor what he has to say... Steed-Style.

And am I the only one who thinks that Paul Steed bears an uncanny resemblance in terms of both physical features and character to WWF's The Rock? The Rock == Paul Steed ... Paul Steed == The Rock... no?

beetchin'

Wow, Nael actually parties his nights away at nightclubs. The world is gonna end I tell you.
I saw the IMF badboys in Mission: Impossible 2 last night and I have to tell you... movie critiques don't know jackshit about movies. Or perhaps _I_ don't know jackshit about movies. Hell anyway, I have to say that I pretty much enjoyed M:I2. So much so that I'll be going hunting for the prequel [and that would be Mission: Impossible, mistar smartey pants] in whatever format available.. any leads?

If you're a 'badass player', you'd already know that the q3 map starring Eminem and Dre is to be down with. So go get it now, yo!
Oh, the latest version of Winamp, Winamp 2.63, is out already. You know what to do.

Jim Dose[id]

Jim Dose, the chief technologist/programmer at Ritual Entertainment has just been incorporated into the id squad. Here's what Mark "Markgyver" Dochtermann has to say aout all this in his .plan update.

This marks the latest movement in id, since the uproar that followed the firing of Paul Steed by Kevin Cloud and Adrian Carmack a coupla days ago, supposedly over the disagreement at developing the new incarnation of Doom. Kevin has since updated his .plan over this incident.

Although Adrian and I alone made the decision to fire Paul, it
is the general opinion among the rest of id that we made the right
decision. Paul was not fired as a result of his support for DOOM.
Other people at id supported DOOM in the exact same manner. For
several reasons it was time for id software and Paul Steed to
part company.

The truth is out there!

Razz-Ma-Tazz sucks

*Warning: Nothing Quake related*
Popped over to Razz-Ma-Tazz - the club that's taken over the ol' Ah Beng Arena last night and it sucked. So much for the imported DJ from UK - in place of a warm welcome he received hostile projectiles in the booth. The music is different (read: sucks) and the crowd ranged from kids to dirty lookin old pervs. Tons of transvies made up for the lack of decor (and whatever 'deco' they had were probably leftovers from some primary school play). One hour and a coupla beers was enough to amplify the initial ughs.

Headed back to Bali where *ahem* a bottle awaited, and oh I never appreciated Bali more since.

Hopefully the place will be fixed up in the month between now and the official opening. There will be no cover for this month, so if you're cheap you know where to head. A nice change from hearing Go Go Bloody ShutheFupGo.

Is Quake Dead?

Read this article about how Quake will soon be giving in to the onslaught of multiplayer games. SAS, the author, had this conclusion to draw:

Quake will be still be played in leagues, and in some competitions, but the days of quake online are over.

Whatever the case, no game will ever hold a candle to the Quake series in a 1 on 1. What's this crap about teamplay? The real test of skill is still a good, solid duel. It's just that nobody has the balls it takes to weather a beating or the energy to continuously outthink an opponent while keeping track of item spawn times. Quake still remains the most basic FPS, and Q3 TP is TP in its most unadultered form. No matter how much you love Coke or a good swig of Chivas, you cannot live without water.

Silver Surfer job openings

After the recent case at Silver Surfer where a coupla GeForces, some RAM and a P3 chip or two were stolen (see updates at the Asylum), two employees were fired (one NBTD-ian and one PLAM-ite); SS now needs some honest, dedicated and alert workers for the relatively quiet night shift (1 am to 9 am) so do drop by Silver Surfer (the glaring big blue and orange gaming paradise is SS15, Subang Jaya) for an interview, or find a way to contact the manager, SeXon aka Louis "Syphillis" Lee at 603-7350182.

Pak-Man Arena

Pac Man being rendered by Q3A technology? This mod is refreshingly different with top down classic action. I never really liked Pac Man though.

DOOMed!

Doom gave id life, is id Doom-ed now? Ahaha sorry I couldn't help it. Newayz if you haven't read The Carmack's .plan update yet, there ya go. What do the people out there think about all this?

Well, Adrian Carmack and Kevin Cloud, who hold 50% of id's shares have fired Paul Steed, animator and modeller extraordinaire and general prick, seemingly in revenge for the decision to remake Doom. If that was true, it must be real petty. Here's what some names have to say about the whole thing at over at Stomped.

CTF maestro Zoid also had some things to say about Doom and Paul S.

What about Paul Steed? Well, you can get a taste of him over at PlanetQuake's Dear Mynx, where he steps in for Mynx to provide some answers to life's mysteries. Also available at PlanetQuake is Paul being featured in Geek of the Week.

What do YOU guys think?

Dteam boycotts id over Steed's dismissal

The Dteam, responsible for, among others, the Painkeep mod for Quake, has decided they will no longer have anything to do with id or id products because of the Paul-HUNKAHUNKA-Steed incident.

We're eliminating our Id Software content, as a retaliation for the blatant corporate babism in the wrongful dismissal of Paul Steed by Kevin Cloud and Adrian Carmack.

...We officially boycott Id Software for this outrage. The boycott will only lift when proper amends are made to Paul

Fatality out of nB

Following the clan-dumping trend, Fatality has left Negative Burn due to some internal conflicts. Here's an interview with the d00d himself. This comes after Fat and Batch's very recent loss in the Cached Doubleteam tourney. Want the demo?

id - minus Paul Steed - working on Doom 3

After what seemed like an internal squabble within the ranks of the big guns in the company, The Carmack has confirmed in his latest .plan update [courtesy of the FingerShack] what the rumour-mills have been churning out since E3 [and perhaps beyond that] - that id's next project would be another sequel to the Doom series. Bah, big deal.
But this totally bites :
Kevin and Adrian fired Paul Steed in retaliation, over my opposition.
Like wtf is up with that? It all seems too morbid too be true, and for now I suggest we just wait for an official statement by the leetest modeller alive [imho] himself [who has long stopped doing .plan updates, I must add].
