16. AUSTRIA - Doch Dann Kamst Du
The Austrian entry "But then you appeared" will be performed by Simone (Stelzer). She originates from St. Polten, the capital of Lower Austria. As a teenager in the mid-eighties she already had some regional success with the group "Peter Pan". Finally she was selected to sing Austria's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990. Her song Keine Mauern mehr (No walls anymore) finished on a good 10th place, which established her breakthrough at the Austrian music market. Some successful singles followed, such as Zeit der Zartlichkeit (Time of tenderness), Heute nacht (Tonight), Wahre Liebe (True love) or Radio (preselection 1994).
"Doch dann kamst du" can be found on her latest album Aus Liebe (From love). The songs on this album were written by many well-known composers and lyricists, such as Alfons Weindorf or Bernd Meinunger.

Simone Stelzer was born in St. Polten in Lower Austria, on 1st October 1969, making her a Libra. For years, the young lady from St. Polten was counted among the great female vocal (and physical) talents in the Alpine Republic. Thus, Simone was able to gather stage experience with the band Peter Pan at the early age of 14, which was rewarded with success in the Austrian charts after two years of hard work.
In 1989, Simone began to feel too restricted in Peter Pan; the musical ideas of the band had drifted too far away from what really moved her, and that is, to say it in a nutshell, simply good pop music. She succeeded in launching out on her solo career with the song "Lucky Star" - a cheerful pop song which managed to stay in the Austrian charts for several weeks.
In 1990, Simone first recorded with CBS and together with a new producer: Marc Berry, singer and main author of "The Form", he composed a German song, which promptly landed among the top ten in the preliminary selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 1990. "Keine Mauern Mehr" was recorded in the Olympia Studio in Spillern, with the help of Mario Botazzi from the "Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung", who was also the songwriter. One week prior to the Eurovision Song Contest, Simone posed naked for the cover of the Austrian magazine "Basta" and her photos were reproduced in many other magazines around Europe, causing serious criticism to the Austrian television (ORF).

The Lyrics
Ich hab' nie was bereut
