14. FRANCE - Jardin De Lumiere
Leyla Doriane was born 25 years ago in France, with Moroccon background. She spent some of her teenage-years in London and that's why her music mixes bits of pop, French variete and ethnic influences. "Jardin de lumière" had a good airplay last year and makes it likely for Leyla to record her first album, which will include material of her own as well as compositions of big French names. This CD is due to be released this fall, following a second single. "Jardin de lumière" was chosen among 40 French songs, after a 3-round procedure. Though a newcomer, Leyla had an overwhelming victory and beat big names, such as Zazie (2nd, 40 points behind !) and Mylène Farmer (5th).
