HERE AND NOW Album Review
The second album by The Wilkinsons, Here and Now, heads off in a different direction than its predacessor. The first album featured the vocal talents of the eldest daughter, Amanda. This album, however, is a true harmonic blend inside and out.

The songs on the new album are nearly evenly split between brother and sister, with Amanda singing five and Tyler four songs. Their current hit, Jimmy's Got a Girlfriend, trades off the lead to each of the two up and coming stars. Each song has a unique blend of harmonies that send chills down your spine and lyrics that could make you cry or lift you up. The theme seems to be fairly consistant through all songs, love, but not so overmended that one song's lyrics could leak their way into another. Father Steve Wilkinson also took a more active role in this CD, having a hand in writing six of the eleven songs, while the brother-sister duo teams up to write one themselves. Steve Wariner also chimes in in the touching song The Only Rose, which is both fantastically done and written. Believe me, the harmonies are tremendous.

I'll admit it. When I first brought home this CD I popped it into my CD player and let it roll, and I wasn't altogether impressed. With the exception of Jimmy's Got a Girlfriend and Hypothetically, no song really caught my attention. However, after only a second run through the CD, my views have drastically changed. The album has song after song of wonderful harmonies and lyrics that will leave you wondering whether you truly just spent the 34 minutes you did listening. So give it a chance, I do recommend it.
